Frances A. Matus, age 95, passed away on Saturday, January 6, 2018. She was born on November 20, 1922 in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania to parents Joseph and Anna (Flasher) Wargo. Frances married George Matus on May 7, 1955 and they celebrated over 50 years together before his passing in 2006. Frances was a member at St. Michael the Archangel Byzantine Catholic Church where she enjoyed many church activities including serving in the altar guild and baking during Easter time. Frances A. Matus, age 95, passed away on Saturday, January 6, 2018. She was born on November 20, 1922 in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania to parents Joseph and Anna (Flasher) Wargo. Frances married George Matus on May 7, 1955 and they celebrated over 50 years together before his passing in 2006. Frances was a member at St. Michael the Archangel Byzantine Catholic Church where she enjoyed many church activities including serving in the altar guild and baking during Easter time. She was also a member of the Flushing Senior Center. Frances is survived by her sons: David Matus, James (Beth) Matus, Dr. Joseph (Debra) Matus, and Thomas (Kim) Matus; grandchildren: Abagail (fiancÚ, Miguel) Matus, Emily Matus, Dr. Michael (Sara) Matus, Sarah (Justin) Weaver, and Dr. Brenden (Ashley) Matus; great grandchildren: Ellie Grace, Jack, Kate, Finn, and Margaux; siblings: Marion (Paul) Zofchak and Joseph (Jean) Wargo. She was preceded in death by both parents; husband, George Matus. Funeral Divine Liturgy will be offered at 10:00am on Friday, January 12, 2018 at St. Michael the Archangel Byzantine Catholic Church, 2333 North Elms Road, Flushing, the Very Reverend Father David A. Hannes officiating, with visitation beginning at 9:00am. Visitation at the funeral home will take place on Thursday, January 11, 2018 from 12-5pm and 6-8pm at Reigle Funeral Home, 5501 W. Pierson Rd., Flushing. A Parastas Service (Wake Service) will be prayed Thursday at 7pm at the funeral home. Burial in New Calvary Cemetery. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to the Soup Kitchen at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church.
